Live panel to focus on empowering people of marginalized genders to find their voices in podcasting
New York, NY (August 23, 2022) – Podbean and She Podcasts have announced a live event on September 9th, 2022, hosted by She Podcasts’ Elsie Escobar, focused on supporting more women and marginalized genders to get involved in podcasting. With Sounds Profitable’s recent report, The Creators, revealing that approximately 70% of podcast creators identify as male, this event aims to address this underrepresentation. We’ll hear from panelists about their paths to success, the challenges along the way, and ideas to open more doors for new and existing creators.
“The beauty of podcasting is in the richness of voices it can bring to the world. However, the data from The Creators report reminds us that we need to do more to ensure diversity and creativity can flourish,” says Shannon Martin, Podbean’s Director of Communications. “We’re so glad to be able to have inspiring female and non-binary podcasters and podcast professionals join us to share their experiences and insights around this important topic.”
Panelists will include:
Danielle Desir Corbett of Women of Color Podcasters & The Thought Card podcast
Haley Radke of the Adoptees On podcast
Skye Pillsbury of The Squeeze ( and formerly of Inside Podcasting)
Ona Oghogho of the Blk Pod Collective, Blk Pod Festival and Adode Media
“The path to parity for marginalized genders in podcasting requires us to recognize that podcasting is so much more than having a podcast,” states She Podcasts’ Elsie Escobar. “I’m thankful for the support from platforms like Podbean to help us get as much visibility and amplification of this message and our work.”
