First, it is essential that you make sure you have proper copyright permission for any music you use in your podcast. Podbean offers a few preloaded music options in the app, which are covered for podcast usage.
For music you have secured copyright permission for, you can sync the music from iTunes on your computer to your iphone by referring to Apple’s help link here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201253. Once you’ve done that, simply select it as your background music when recording in the app* (press + on the recording page to select the music).
*Currently, this feature is only available in the Podbean iOS app, not the Podbean Android app.
When you wish to use your own domain (personally branded website) for your podcast, you can do so seamlessly by mapping your domain to your Podbean podcast site. Here are the steps to do so if you host your domain with GoDaddy.com.
Log into your GoDaddy account and click “Launch” to show all of your domains.
At this point you will see a “Domains” page. Click the domain name that you want to assign to your podcast site. Click the link ” Manage DNS “.
Under Zone File, you click on the “Add Record” button to add a CNAME record.
Add the “CNAME” record to map “podcast.mydomain.com” to your podbean site (e.g. username.podbean.com). Set the “host” to “www”, and “Points to” to “username.podbean.com”.
Don’t forget to save the changes after you add the CNAME record.
We have exciting news for those who enjoy listening to podcasts on their drives! The Podbean podcast app is now officially available for use with Android Auto (Android 6.0 + phone). This makes it easy for fans to take their listening experience on the road, with quick phone/car integration and voice commands for drive-time safety.
For anyone with a compatible car and Android device, getting started is as simple as getting the Android Auto app and plugging your phone into your car’s USB port. Read more about using Android Auto. Podbean is always working to improve your podcast listening experience and convenience, so we’re thrilled to be part of this latest technological advancement.
There’s a great new feature in Podbean’s Crowdfunding platform. Podcasters can create a personalized, simple URL for their crowdfunding page to make it more shareable. Your crowdfunding URL can match with your podcast/site/brand so it’s easy for potential patrons to remember.
To set up a personalized URL for your crowdfunding page, simply follow these steps:
1. Login to your Podbean account.
2. Click on “My Crowdfunding” on the top right.
3. Click “Edit” under the campaign and you will see “Your Crowdfunding URL” where you can create your personalized URL. The URL will read patron.podbean.com/XXX (you choose what goes after the slash, such as your podcast or site name).
4. Make sure to click “Save and Continue” to save your changes.
Now you can share this simple URL with your fans to make donating easier than ever!
